# Draft an Agreement From Your Approved Templates

## How do you draft a contract from a template?

To draft a contract from a template, tell Maito who the agreement is with, the term, the fee and anything unusual. It opens your approved template in Drive, fills in the details, keeps the standard clauses and attaches a draft document. It lists any blanks and non-standard terms, so a lawyer reviews less.

**Rosa** (9:40 AM):

draft a consulting agreement for Jo Smith, 3 months, $8k a month.

Not standard: nothing. Two blanks I couldn't fill: the scope in Schedule A and Jo's address. You didn't give a start date, so Nov 2 is a placeholder. The template's IP clause only covers work during the term, so anything Jo does before the start date isn't assigned.

Claire needs to approve it before it goes to Jo.

**Rosa** (9:50 AM):

start is Nov 9. Scope is Q4 payroll audit prep.

**Maito** (9:51 AM):

Updated: Nov 9 to Feb 8, 2027, and Schedule A now reads Q4 payroll audit preparation. v2 attached. Only Jo's address is still blank. I've asked Claire to review.

## What it won't do

It works from the templates you connect and can't check whether a template suits a particular deal. A lawyer should review the draft before it goes out.

## Questions

### Does it use our wording or write its own?

It starts from your approved template and clauses. Anything outside them is marked as not standard so a lawyer can look at it.

### What if I forget a detail?

It leaves the blank, lists it for you and asks. It won't guess an address, a date or a scope.

### Does it send the draft to the other party?

No. It attaches the draft in the thread. Sending or signing is up to you and your legal team.
