# Bug Report in Jira or Linear From a Slack Thread

## How do you file a bug from a Slack thread?

To file a bug from a Slack thread, mention Maito in the thread. It reads the conversation, writes the steps to reproduce, attaches the screenshots and stack traces people pasted, searches the tracker for duplicates, and files one ticket linked back to the thread. It works with Linear, Jira and GitHub.

## How it's done today

Bugs mentioned in chat never reach the tracker.

## What Maito does

1.  Read the thread it was mentioned in
2.  Pull the details, logs and links
3.  Check for an existing ticket
4.  File a new one or add to the old one

• Steps: Mia's three steps from this thread, from creating the invoice for Globex (DE) to opening the PDF.  
• Evidence: the stack trace pasted at 2:14 PM and the screenshot of invoice INV-2291.  
• Impact: 6 customers named in the thread.  
• A link back to this thread.

**Catch:** this looks like a regression. LIN-481 (tax rounding for EU invoices) was closed in 4.10 and has the same symptom. I linked it instead of filing a duplicate and set LIN-530 to Urgent.

It only reads a thread after someone mentions it there. Details nobody wrote in the thread, like the exact version or account, are listed as missing instead of guessed.

### What if the bug already exists?

It links the earlier ticket and tells you instead of filing a duplicate. If the old one was closed, it points out the possible regression.

### Does it assign the bug?

Only when you ask. It can suggest who fixed something similar, and you decide.
