# Change Shipping Address on Shopify Before Orders Ship

## How do you fix shipping addresses before orders go out?

To fix shipping addresses before orders go out, let Maito watch new orders. It flags addresses that fail validation or don't match the ZIP, holds the order and drafts a confirmation to the order's email. When the customer confirms, it validates and updates the order. Requests from other addresses are flagged.

Support edits the address in one system while the warehouse ships from another.

## What Maito does

1.  Hold orders with an address problem
2.  Verify the customer asked for the change
3.  Check the new address
4.  Release the order once after the fix

## Example

Loop run: Address validation failed · Order #4417

**Maito** (10:14 AM):

Order #4417 ($86.40, Mara Quinn) is on hold. It hasn't shipped and no label is printed.

**Problem:** the address reads "Austin, TX 10011", a New York ZIP. "Apt 4B" is also missing.  
**Change request:** at 10:02 someone emailed asking to ship to 220 Congress Ave, Austin.

Catch: that email came from mara.q@fastmail.example, not the address on the order. Your policy only accepts changes from the order email, so I haven't changed anything.

"Hi Mara, we need to confirm your delivery address for order #4417. Please reply to this email with the full address."

Send it.

**Maito** (10:21 AM):

Sent to the order email. #4417 stays on hold. When she replies, I'll validate the address, update the order and release it once.

## What it won't do

It can't confirm that an address really receives mail beyond what validation shows. The customer has to confirm.

### Will it change an address because someone emailed?

Only if the change comes from the email on the order, as your policy says. Others get flagged for you.

### Which tools does it use?

Shopify or Amazon Selling Partner for orders, Shippo or ShipBob for shipping, and email.

### Does it send the confirmation itself?

It drafts it and sends it after you approve.
