Source: https://maito.app/workflows/follow-up-on-attendance

Maito checks attendance each week, lists students below your threshold with patterns like Monday absences, and drafts check-in notes for teachers.

## How do you follow up on student attendance?

To follow up on student attendance, give Maito access to your student system with a login in the Vault. Each week it lists students below your threshold, notes patterns such as Monday absences, and points out sudden drops. It drafts check-in notes for teachers. It contacts no families.

## How it's done today

Patterns are noticed late.

## What Maito does

1. Read attendance data
2. Flag students over the threshold
3. Draft a note for staff

## Example

Loop run: Friday 3:00 PM · Weekly attendance check

**Maito** (3:00 PM):

**7 students under 90% this term**
• Student 1: 82%, absent most Mondays
• Student 2: 85%, 4 absences in the last 8 days
• Student 3: 87%, arrives after 9:30 on 6 days
• Student 4: 88%, steady decline from 96% in Sept
• Students 5 to 7: 88 to 89%, scattered

Catch: Student 4 was at 96% in September and dropped to 78% in the last three weeks. It looks like a new problem, not a long pattern.

Source: Canvas attendance through Oct 16. This is staff only. Names are in the attached file attendance-oct16.xlsx. I haven't contacted any family. Want me to draft a check-in note for each home room teacher?

**Rafael** (3:12 PM):

Yes, for Students 2 and 4 first. Teachers will decide the follow-up.

**Maito** (3:14 PM):

Drafts for both are attached for the teachers. Nothing is sent.

## How to set it up

On a schedule Follow up on attendance

Ask your agent

“Every Friday at 3, check attendance in Canvas and post to #student-support the students under 90% this term, with their pattern. Staff only.”

Use student system

- Canvas

No MCP server needed. Ask your agent to save a skill with the steps, then add the login or API key in Settings → Vault.

## What it won't do

It reports attendance and patterns, not causes. Why a student is absent is for teachers and families to work out.

## Questions

### Which student systems does it work with?

Canvas through a community MCP server. For other systems, Maito can use a skill with a login or API key stored in the Vault (Settings, Vault).

### Does it contact families?

No. It drafts notes for teachers, and the teachers decide what to do.

### Who sees the student names?

Maito posts a summary to your staff channel and attaches names in a file. Keep the channel limited to staff.
