# Route Optimization: Plan a Crew's Day

Ask Maito in Slack to plan tomorrow's jobs. It orders them by route and time, balances the crews and flags jobs that can't fit.

## How do you plan a crew's day by route?

To plan a crew's day by route, ask Maito in Slack with the date and finish time. It reads the jobs from Jobber, groups them by area, orders each crew's stops, checks job lengths against your deadline, and flags anything that cannot fit.

## How it's done today

The dispatcher orders addresses by feel in a spreadsheet.

## What Maito does

1.  Read the day's jobs, windows and crew capacity
2.  Group stops by area
3.  Estimate drive time between stops
4.  Propose a sequence and flag jobs that don't fit

## Example

**Tom** (4:40 PM):

plan tomorrow for the two cleaning crews. 11 jobs, both crews done by 5 PM.

**Maito** (4:41 PM):

Tomorrow, Thu Oct 22. Total drive time 2h 10m, down from about 3h 05m in the current order.

**Crew A** (north side, 6 jobs)  
• 8:00 Acme Law, 90 min  
• 9:45 Globex Lobby, 60 min  
• 11:00 Initech, 120 min  
• 1:30 to 4:30: 3 more, ending at Stark Logistics

**Crew B** (south, 5 jobs)  
• 8:30 Wonka Foods, 150 min  
• 11:15 to 4:45: 4 more

Catch: Soylent Labs has a 3 to 5 PM window, 40 minutes from where Crew B ends at 3:50. It doesn't fit. Either move it to Friday or give Crew A a shorter Initech visit.

Travel times are web estimates, not live traffic.

**Tom** (4:46 PM):

move Soylent to Friday morning and show me Crew B again.

**Maito** (4:47 PM):

With Soylent out, Crew B ends at 3:05 at Stark Logistics, 11 minutes earlier. Friday 9 AM has room for Crew B. I haven't changed the schedule until you confirm.

## What it won't do

It can't see live traffic or a crew's mood. Treat the plan as a strong first draft.

## Questions

### Does it change the schedule in Jobber?

Only if you ask. By default it posts a proposed plan for you to review.

### Does it use live traffic?

No. It plans from addresses and job lengths, and you adjust for the day.

### Can it split jobs between two crews?

Yes. Tell it the crews and it balances the day between them.
