# Audit Preparation: Collect What the Auditor Asked

## How do you prepare for an audit?

To prepare for an audit, send Maito the auditor's request list. It searches your files and QuickBooks or Xero for each item, files what it finds in a folder named by request number, lists what is missing with an owner and a date, and keeps the status up to date as documents arrive.

**Omar** (9:45 AM):

here's the auditor's request list, attached as audit-requests.xlsx, 55 items. Collect what we have and track what's missing.

**Maito** (10:20 AM):

42 of 55 items are found and filed in the Google Drive folder FY2026 Audit, named by request number. 13 are missing, each with an owner and a date.

• R14 board minutes for Q2: Kate  
• R22 lease agreement for the new office: Tom, Oct 26  
• R31 to R34 payroll tax filings: Rosa  
• R47 bank confirmation letter: Ben

Catch: R19 asks for the revenue contract with Hooli, but QuickBooks shows two Hooli customer records. The signed one in Drive is dated Mar 2025, which doesn't cover the 2026 invoices. I filed it as a possible match, and not as done.

Attached: audit-tracker.xlsx. Controller review comes before anything goes to the auditor.

## What it won't do

Maito finds documents that exist in your tools. It cannot judge whether a document satisfies the auditor, and it does not give audit or accounting advice.

Google Drive, Box, Dropbox, Notion or Microsoft 365 for files, and QuickBooks or Xero for accounting records.

### Does it send documents to the auditor?

No. It prepares them. Your team sends them.

### Can it chase the owners?

Yes. It can ask each owner for their item by Slack or email and track the replies.
