# Month End Close Tracker for Every Task

## How do you track the month-end close?

To track the month-end close, set up a Loop in Maito that runs each morning of the close. It reads your close checklist in the task tracker, counts tasks done, late and blocked, names the blocker holding up the most other tasks, and posts the summary in Slack so the controller can chase the right person.

Close status is chased in Slack.

## Example

Loop run: Tuesday 8:30 AM · Close checklist

**Maito** (8:30 AM):

Day 3 of the September close: 18 of 24 tasks done.

**Late**  
• Accruals review, Ravi, due yesterday.  
• Prepaid schedule, Ana, due today.

**Blocked**  
• Bank rec for the operating account. The September statement hasn't been uploaded in Asana, and 4 other tasks wait behind it.

If the statement comes today, the day 5 deadline holds. If it comes tomorrow, I'd expect it to slip to day 6.

## What it won't do

Maito knows a task is done only if someone marks it in the tracker. It cannot check the accounting work itself.

### Where does the checklist live?

In your task tracker, such as Asana, Linear, ClickUp, Jira or Trello. Maito reads it there.

### Can it remind people?

Yes. Ask it to remind an owner by Slack or email and it does.

### Does it do the close tasks?

No. It tracks them. Accountants do the work and post the entries.
