## How do you see how much cash is really free?

To see how much cash is really free, ask Maito in Slack. It reads your accounting software and spreadsheets, combines what customers owe, bills that are due and upcoming payroll, and shows the spendable amount by date next to the bank balance. It lists the assumptions it used.

## How it's done today

The owner reads the bank balance and forgets the payroll and tax payments coming due.

Bank balance is $64,200, but only about $9,100 is free through Nov 30.

• Payables due: $31,400 (supplier invoices, rent and the Oct 28 sales tax payment)  
• Payroll: $27,800 on Oct 30 and $27,800 on Nov 13 (two runs, one more on Nov 27)  
• Receivables expected: $41,600. Cautious case counts only invoices not past 30 days: $27,200.

Catch: Pied Piper owes $14,400, already 52 days late. In the cautious case I left it out; if it arrives, free cash rises to $23,500.

## What it won't do

Maito can't know about payments nobody recorded, and it doesn't give financial advice. Treat the figure as a starting point.

### What does it need?

QuickBooks or Xero for balances, bills and invoices, and a spreadsheet in Airtable or Microsoft 365 for payroll dates.

### Does it assume customers will pay on time?

It uses the due dates and states that assumption. You can ask for a cautious view that delays them.

### Is it a forecast I can rely on?

It's a working view of known money in and out, for you to check before a decision.
