# Outage Alerts for the Tools Your Team Uses

Source: https://maito.app/workflows/watch-for-outages-in-your-tools

Maito checks the status pages of your key tools every few minutes and posts in Slack when one is down or back, with the impact on your other tools.

Hear when a tool your team depends on is down, before people ask.

## How do you watch for outages in your tools?

To watch for outages in your tools, list the status pages and set a Loop that checks every few minutes. Maito posts in your IT channel when a tool is down or slow, says what is affected, and posts again when it recovers. It also notes knock-on effects on related tools.

## How it's done today

People ask "is Slack down for anyone else?"

## What Maito does

1. Check status pages of your tools
2. Post when something is down and when it's back

## Example

Loop run: Status change · Google Drive

**Maito** (10:16 AM):

Google Drive is having issues in Europe since 10:12 AM, per its status page. Uploads and previews are slow, and some files won't open.

The other 9 tools are green.

**Catch:** Meet shows green, but recordings save to Drive. Recordings from the last hour may arrive late.

No ETA yet. I'll post when it's fixed.

**Alex** (10:20 AM):

is Docs affected?

**Maito** (10:21 AM):

Docs shows green, but opening Docs stored in Drive may be slow. Only Drive is marked as an issue.

**Maito** (11:44 AM):

Google Drive is back as of 11:41 AM, 89 minutes in total. Google says a storage update caused it. Delayed Meet recordings should now appear.

## How to set it up

On a schedule Watch for outages in your tools

Ask your agent

“Every 5 minutes, check the status pages of our 10 main tools. Post in #it-help when one is down or slow, and again when it's back.”

## What it won't do

It relies on vendors' status pages, which can be late or wrong. It can't see an outage the vendor hasn't reported.

## Questions

### How often does it check?

As often as you set. A Loop can check every few minutes.

### Where does it post?

In the Slack channel you choose, or by email.

### Does it know the cause?

Only what the status page says. It posts that along with any related effects it can find.
