## How do you write nonprofit impact stories?

To write nonprofit impact stories, point Maito at your program notes and say the audience and length. Maito reads them, drafts the story, checks the consent forms in your files, removes details that could identify someone, and lists what you must confirm before the story goes out.

**Kofi** (1:45 PM):

write an impact story from the Reading Buddies October notes in Drive. It's for the donor newsletter, about 300 words.

**Maito** (2:01 PM):

Draft attached: reading-buddies-story.docx (302 words). The opening:

'In September, Mia read her first full chapter book. She is nine. Her buddy, Dee, brought the book in a tote bag every Tuesday for six weeks. 'I wasn't sure I could do it,' Mia told her. By week six, she was reading it aloud to the group.'

**Consent check:**  
• Mia's mother signed for a story and a first-name quote, Sept 12. Not for a photo.  
• Dee's quote is approved.

**The catch:** the notes name Mia's school and her street. I removed both.

You should confirm the consent before it goes out. I've also left out the reading level, since the form doesn't cover assessment data. Want a shorter version for the website?
