Viktor vs Claude Tag
Anthropic's Claude Tag now competes with Viktor for the shared AI teammate in Slack. How are they different? And which one is easier to pay for?
Which is better, Viktor or Claude Tag?
Viktor is better for an independent AI employee across Slack and Microsoft Teams with one credit bill that includes the models. Claude Tag is better if your company already pays for Claude Team or Enterprise and wants that Claude shared in Slack channels, under Anthropic's security reports.
Pick Viktor for
- A company that also works in Microsoft Teams
- One bill with model usage inside
- Starting free, with no Claude plan
Pick Claude Tag for
- A company already on Claude Team or Enterprise
- SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001, and ISO 42001
- Spending caps for each Slack channel
Viktor is an independent AI employee for Slack and Microsoft Teams that bundles model usage into workspace credits. Claude Tag is Anthropic's own shared Claude for Slack, billed by usage to a Claude Team or Enterprise organization.
On the surface they look alike. Someone tags the agent in a channel, the whole team can see and steer the work, and the agent writes code, analyzes data, and follows up on its own. Underneath, they're different purchases. With Viktor, you buy an AI employee and its model usage comes inside Viktor's credits. With Claude Tag, you extend the Claude subscription your company already has into Slack.
This guide is for a company with both Slack and Microsoft Teams users, some of them already on Claude. Shared memory alone isn't a reason to move from one to the other; both have it.
What is Viktor best at?
Viktor is best at finished business deliverables, such as account reviews, campaign reports, dashboards, and internal apps, built from many connected tools.
It connects to more than 3,200 apps, works in both Slack and Microsoft Teams, and shows results in Spaces and Pages. It also writes code: cloning repositories, fixing bugs on branches, and opening pull requests.
Its memory has three layers: personal preferences, team and company knowledge, and workflow skills taught in conversation.

What is Claude Tag best at?
Claude Tag is best at giving a whole Slack channel one Claude that everyone can direct, with careful channel memory and owner-controlled spend.
A task becomes a working session tied to the Slack thread, in a temporary cloud sandbox, and any teammate in the thread can steer it while it runs. It handles coding, data, incidents, and go-to-market work, and its commits and pull requests come from the Claude GitHub App. It replaced Claude in Slack on August 3, 2026, and is still in beta.

Where can your team reach Viktor and Claude Tag?
Viktor answers in Slack and in Microsoft Teams. Claude Tag answers only in Slack: in channels, in DMs, and in the assistant panel.
A company split between the two chat apps reaches one agent everywhere with Viktor; with Claude Tag, the Teams half goes without. A Slack-only company loses nothing with Claude Tag, and its DMs bill to each person's own Claude account while channel work bills to the organization.
Winner: Viktor, the only one of the two that reaches Microsoft Teams users.

Which one remembers more carefully, Viktor or Claude Tag?
Claude Tag scopes memory by channel: public channels feed a workspace memory, private channels only write their own notes, and DMs stay separate. Viktor scopes memory by type: personal, team, and workflow skills.
Claude Tag's model is precise about leaks. A private channel can read workspace notes but never writes to them. One catch: if a public channel later goes private, notes it already shared with the workspace stay there.
Viktor's model is precise about purpose. A personal profile keeps one person's style and boundaries, team updates apply to everyone's later work, and skills capture repeatable procedures.
Winner: Claude Tag for keeping private channels out of shared memory. Viktor for keeping one person's habits apart from what the whole team learns.

Is Viktor or Claude Tag more secure?
As of October 2026, Anthropic holds SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001, and ISO 42001 for the products Claude Tag runs on, and Claude Tag keeps guest channels blocked until an admin opens them. Viktor holds SOC 2 Type 1 with Type II still in audit, and adds SAML SSO and EU data residency on its Enterprise plan.
Viktor makes a person approve code pushes, customer emails, and money movement, and admins choose which integrations it touches. Claude Tag uses organization credentials in channels and each person's own identity in DMs.
Winner: Claude Tag, for a security review that wants a Type II report and ISO certificates. Viktor if your data has to live in the EU.

Which one is faster to set up, Viktor or Claude Tag?
Viktor installs as an app and starts with up to $100 in free credits, no card needed. Claude Tag needs a Claude organization Owner or Primary Owner and a Slack admin to pair workspaces, enable Routines, add credentials and repositories, choose channels, and fund a usage balance.
Claude Tag's setup is thorough because its controls are thorough: reply scope, search scope, guest handling, DM rules, and spend limits per organization, per channel default, and per channel.
Winner: Viktor. One install replaces a two-admin rollout, and nobody has to buy a Claude plan first.

What do Viktor and Claude Tag cost?
As of October 2026, Viktor Team costs $50 a month per workspace for 20,000 shared credits or $100 for 40,000, with the models inside. Claude Tag needs Claude Team or Enterprise, where a Team Standard seat is $25 monthly or $20 billed yearly, and its channel work is billed to the organization by usage.

For ten people, if each of them gets a Claude seat:
Viktor Team
$100 per workspace per month
- 40,000 shared credits that include the models
- No seats; $50 buys 20,000 credits for lighter use
- Leftover credits carry into the next month only
Claude Tag
$250 per month for ten seats + usage
- 10 × $25 Claude Team Standard seats, billed monthly
- $200 a month for the same seats on a yearly plan
- Channel work billed to the organization on top
Seats are optional for channel work: admins can open Claude Tag to everyone in the Slack workspace, and people without a linked Claude account get an onboarding allowance. A company that already buys Claude seats for other reasons pays only the channel usage.
Winner: Viktor for a company with no Claude plan. Claude Tag for one that already pays for Claude seats.

So should you choose Viktor or Claude Tag?
Choose Viktor if you want an independent AI employee across Slack and Microsoft Teams with model usage in one credit bill. Choose Claude Tag if your company already runs on Claude and wants it shared in Slack channels.
Choose Viktor if…
- Part of your company works in Microsoft Teams
- You'd rather not manage a separate model bill
- You want a free start before paying
Choose Claude Tag if…
- You already pay for Claude Team or Enterprise
- Your admins want per-channel spend limits
- Claude is the model your team trusts
Is there a Viktor or Claude Tag alternative that lets you choose the model?
Yes. Maito is a shared AI teammate in Slack that runs on the AI provider and model you choose, and the same agent works by email and from Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, Codex, Grok, and Muse, for $149 per workspace with unlimited people.
It handles a production problem the way both products would want to: in the channel where the alert lands, with the whole team watching, from first look to a pull request and a customer update.
Illustrative conversation, not a recorded product test.
@Maito Sentry shows checkout errors jumping since 6:30. What's going on?
The 6:25 deploy changed how coupon codes are validated. Codes with lowercase letters now throw before payment, about 4% of checkouts. PR #890 restores case-insensitive matching and adds a test for mixed-case codes. Checks pass, and I reproduced the fix on staging. Status page update and a note for affected customers are drafted below.
