How do you write student progress reports for parents?
To write student progress reports for parents, set a recurring Loop. Maito reads each student's lesson notes and goals, drafts a short update, and sends it to the tutor in Slack to correct. It says plainly where notes are missing and nothing reaches parents until the tutor approves.
How it's done today
Tutors rewrite weeks of lesson notes into a parent email on their own time.
What Maito does
- Collect the last six weeks of notes and goals
- Draft a short update using only what the notes say
- Flag gaps where notes are thin
- Send the draft to the tutor to correct
Example
Loop run: Every 6 weeks · Parent update drafts
Mr. Ortiz, here is the draft for Ravi's parents, from your 6 lesson notes since Sep 8. 12 drafts in total; this is the first. Hi Mr. and Mrs. Shah, over the last six weeks Ravi has worked on fractions and early algebra. He attended all 6 lessons. In September he solved most one-step equations on his own. In his Oct 6 lesson, fractions were still hard for him, and we are repeating them. Catch: your notes have nothing after Oct 6, so I haven't said whether fractions have improved. Your Oct 20 lesson is the last one but has no report. From your lesson notes and the goals in his plan. What should I say about the fractions, and is the tone right?
@Maito add that Oct 20 went much better, he got 8 of 10 on the fraction set. Then send it to me as final.
Added that Ravi got 8 of 10 on the Oct 20 fraction set, as you told me. The final version is in your inbox to send yourself; I haven't contacted the Shahs.

What it won't do
It can only describe what the notes say. It can't judge a student's progress on its own.
Questions
Only after the tutor approves. Until then it is a draft.
It doesn't guess. It leaves that out and asks the tutor what to say.
