How do you get customer approval for extra repair work?
To get customer approval for extra repair work, run it when a technician adds a finding. Maito reads the repair order and photos, prices each item, checks shop history for conflicts, drafts a text that asks the customer to approve each item, sends it through Twilio after you approve, and saves the reply to the repair order.
How it's done today
The adviser phones the customer and types their consent into notes later.
What Maito does
- Pull the inspection findings and photos
- Draft a priced explanation
- Send once the adviser approves
- Save the customer's reply to the job
Example
Loop run: Technician finding added to RO 10442
Luis added findings to RO 10442, Ms. Patel's 2019 Corolla. • Rear pads at 2 mm: $186.40 • Rear rotors: $226.20 • Rear axle seal leaking: $289.00 Total with tax: $701.60. 3 photos attached. Catch: shop history shows rotors were replaced in March (RO 9764), 7 months ago. Either the finding is wrong or that job needs a look. Draft text to Ms. Patel is ready: it lists each item with its price and asks her to reply YES to the ones she approves. From the repair order and the photos.
@Maito Luis says the rotors are fine. Remove them and send.
Sent by text at 10:39: pads and seal, $475.40 total. No work starts until she replies, and I'll save her answer to RO 10442.

Questions
Your shop management software, such as Tekmetric or Shopmonkey, through a skill, Twilio for texts, and photos from Google Drive, Box, Dropbox, Notion or Microsoft 365.
No. It shows you the draft in Slack and sends only after you approve.
It flags it, for example a part replaced recently, and you decide whether to remove it.
