How do you watch for outages in your tools?

To watch for outages in your tools, list the status pages and set a Loop that checks every few minutes. Maito posts in your IT channel when a tool is down or slow, says what is affected, and posts again when it recovers. It also notes knock-on effects on related tools.

How it's done today

People ask "is Slack down for anyone else?"

What Maito does

  1. Check status pages of your tools
  2. Post when something is down and when it's back

Example

Loop run: Status change · Google Drive

it-help
Maito APP 10:16 AM

Google Drive is having issues in Europe since 10:12 AM, per its status page. Uploads and previews are slow, and some files won't open. The other 9 tools are green. Catch: Meet shows green, but recordings save to Drive. Recordings from the last hour may arrive late. No ETA yet. I'll post when it's fixed.

Alex 10:20 AM

@Maito is Docs affected?

Maito APP 10:21 AM

Docs shows green, but opening Docs stored in Drive may be slow. Only Drive is marked as an issue.

Maito APP 11:44 AM

Google Drive is back as of 11:41 AM, 89 minutes in total. Google says a storage update caused it. Delayed Meet recordings should now appear.

How to set it up

On a schedule Watch for outages in your tools
Ask your agent

“Every 5 minutes, check the status pages of our 10 main tools. Post in #it-help when one is down or slow, and again when it's back.”

What it won't do

It relies on vendors' status pages, which can be late or wrong. It can't see an outage the vendor hasn't reported.
