How do you draft the cost worksheet for a quote?
To draft the cost worksheet for a quote, tell Maito the part, quantity and cycle time in Slack. It uses the rates in your estimating sheet to cost setup, machining, material, outside processing and freight, applies vendor minimums, shows your margin option, lists what is still missing, and attaches the spreadsheet.
How it's done today
The estimator rebuilds setup, cycle, material, outside process and freight in a spreadsheet each time.
What Maito does
- Fill in the inputs from the RFQ
- Apply your rates
- Show missing assumptions
- Stop before setting the price
Example
Loop run: None
@Maito Draft the cost worksheet for RFQ-1184, 250 pieces. Use the rates in our estimating sheet and Raul's 6.5 min cycle.
Draft attached: rfq-1184-cost-250.xlsx. • Setup: 2.5 h at $95 = $237.50 • Machining: 6.5 min x 250 = 27.1 h = $2,572.92 • Material: 250 x $4.80 = $1,200.00 • Anodize: $400.00 • Freight: $120.00 Cost: $4,530.42, or $18.12 each Catch: the anodize vendor charges a $400 minimum lot. At $1.35 a part, 250 pieces is only $337.50, so I used the minimum. Still missing: inspection time and any packaging. At your usual 28% margin the price would be $6,292 ($25.17 each), but I haven't put a price in the quote. Rates came from your estimating sheet. Cycle time is Raul's figure.
@Maito Add 0.5 h inspection.
Added: cost is now $4,577.92, $18.31 each. Price still blank for you.

What it won't do
The result is only as good as the rates and cycle times it is given. It does not estimate cycle time itself.
Questions
From your estimating sheet in Airtable or Microsoft 365, and files in Google Drive, Box, Dropbox, Notion or Microsoft 365. Cycle times come from the person who gave them.
No. It can show what your usual margin would give, but it leaves the price blank for you.
It lists it, such as inspection time or packaging, and you can reply with the figure so it updates the worksheet.
