How do you track brand mentions?
To track brand mentions, set a daily Maito Loop. It searches the web, forums and social posts for your brand and product, sorts what it finds into praise, complaints and questions, checks how old each one is, and posts a summary in Slack with the few that deserve a reply.
How it's done today
Mentions get noticed when someone forwards a screenshot.
What Maito does
- Search the web and forums for your name
- Sort into praise, complaints and questions
- Flag ones worth a reply
Example
Loop run: Weekday 9:00 AM · Daily mentions
7 mentions since yesterday • Praise (4): a r/sysadmin thread calling our Slack setup 'the easiest I've done', plus 3 short posts on LinkedIn. • Complaint (1): a Hacker News comment saying 'billed twice in September'. 6 upvotes, 4 replies. • Questions (2): r/smallbusiness asks if Northstar works with Gmail. A forum post asks where data is stored. Worth a reply: the billing comment and the Gmail question. The other 5 need nothing. Catch: the billing comment is 13 days old and nobody from us has answered. Its screenshot is dated Sep 30, which matches the billing incident we posted about, so it may not be new.
@Maito draft a reply to the billing one for Sam to look at.
Draft: 'Sorry about the double charge. If you send your account email to support@northstar.example, we'll check it and refund the duplicate. Sam, Northstar.' Not posted. Sam decides.

How to set it up
- Ask your agent
“Every weekday at 9, search the web and forums like Reddit and Hacker News for new mentions of Northstar and post the ones worth knowing about in #marketing.”
What it won't do
Search finds only what is public and indexed, so some mentions will be missed. Maito also can't confirm whether a complaint is accurate.
Questions
Public web, forums and social posts it can reach with web research. Private groups and login-only content aren't covered.
No. It drafts a reply for the right teammate to review, and nothing is posted.
No. It uses web research. Tell Maito your brand names and product terms.
