How do you prepare the board deck?
To prepare the board deck, tell Maito the period and where numbers live. It pulls figures from your database, accounting software and files, builds slides with charts and speaker notes, and attaches the deck. It also flags where two sources disagree, so you resolve it before the board sees it.
How it's done today
Board prep takes a week of the CEO's time.
What Maito does
- Pull metrics, finance and plan
- Build slides
- Draft the narrative
Example
@Maito draft the Q3 board deck. Board meets Oct 29. Use the plan in Drive and last quarter's deck for format.
Attached: northstar-q3-board.pptx, 15 slides with charts and speaker notes. Story in the notes: • Revenue $247k against a plan of $260k, 5% short • Gross margin 71%, up from 68% • Net burn $182k for the quarter • Hiring: 9 of 12 planned roles filled Slide 11 is the ask: approve a $300k budget for the EU launch. Catch: BigQuery says Q3 revenue was $251k and QuickBooks says $247k. A $3.9k refund was booked in October in one and September in the other. I used QuickBooks, and slide 4 has a footnote. Omar should confirm.
@Maito add a slide on churn. Board asked about it last time.
Added as slide 6 in the same file: logo churn 2.4% for the quarter, 3.1% last quarter. Initech and Wonka Foods are the two largest losses.

What it won't do
It can only use data it can read, and it can't tell which of two conflicting numbers is right. The story and the ask in the deck are yours to confirm.
Questions
Databases like BigQuery or Supabase, accounting like QuickBooks or Xero, and files in tools like Google Drive or Notion.
No. It's a draft for you to review and change. Nothing is shared with the board without you.
Yes. Point it to the earlier deck and it follows the same structure.
