How do you set up a tutoring schedule for a term?
To set up a tutoring schedule for a term, mention Maito in Slack with the student, tutor, weekly time and term dates. It builds each lesson on the calendar, skips holidays from your term dates table, checks for tutor and student clashes, and lists the schedule for you to confirm.
How it's done today
The tutor enters each lesson by hand and forgets holidays until a parent asks.
What Maito does
- Read the agreed day, time and term dates
- Build the series
- Skip school breaks and holidays from the term table
- Prepare the calendar entries for approval
Example
@Maito set up Ravi Shah's Tuesday 4:30 maths with Mr. Ortiz from Oct 27 to Dec 15. Skip holidays from the term dates table.
Drafted, not yet created. 6 lessons, 4:30 to 5:30 PM Eastern, with Mr. Ortiz. • Oct 27 • Nov 10 • Nov 17 • Dec 1 • Dec 8 • Dec 15 Skipped • Nov 3: Election Day, the term table lists the school as closed • Nov 24: Thanksgiving break week Catch: Mr. Ortiz is blocked in his calendar on Nov 17 for a conference, 4:00 to 6:00 PM. I kept the lesson in the draft but flagged it. From the term-date table and the tutors' calendars. Two missed weeks is a typical gap; want me to offer make-up slots for Nov 3 and Nov 24, or create the series as is?
@Maito move Nov 17 to Thursday Nov 19 at 4:30, and create the series. No make-ups.
Created 6 lessons with Nov 17 moved to Thu Nov 19. Invites are on the tutor and parent calendars. Parent invite goes out to the Shahs now.

What it won't do
It can't know a tutor's or family's availability unless it is on the calendar or you say so.
Questions
