How do you verify dental insurance before appointments?
To verify dental insurance before appointments, set a weekday Loop. Maito reads upcoming appointments and intake details from your practice system, splits them into verified and not verified, flags plan changes that void an earlier check, and assigns each check to a front desk person in Slack.
How it's done today
The front desk checks benefits when they have a spare minute, and some patients arrive unverified.
What Maito does
- List appointments in the next 3 days
- Mark which have verified coverage and when
- Assign unverified patients to staff
- Record the answers staff collect
Example
Loop run: Weekdays 7:30 AM · Coverage verification list
14 appointments through Thursday. 9 are verified, 5 need a check. To verify • Tue 9:00, J. Alvarez, crown prep: no check on file (assigned to Nadia) • Tue 1:30, M. Chen, new patient: plan ID not collected • Wed 10:15, R. Patel, cleaning: last verified Mar 3 • Wed 3:00, D. Brooks, filling: plan changed Oct 1 • Thu 8:30, S. Kim, extraction: verified Oct 2, plan unchanged Catch: Mr. Brooks was verified on Oct 9 under the old Initech Benefits plan, but the intake form says his plan changed Oct 1. That check no longer counts. From the schedule and intake forms in the practice system. I'll mark each as verified once the staff member writes back with the date and what the insurer said.
@Maito Alvarez verified today. Plan active, crown covered at 50% per rep, call ref 88231.
Recorded: Alvarez verified Oct 19 by Nadia, rep said crown at 50%, ref 88231. I've put that as the insurer's statement, not an estimate. 4 left.

What it won't do
It can't confirm coverage itself. Benefits and patient estimates always come from the insurer through your staff.
Questions
No. Staff make the check. Maito records what they tell it, with the date and reference number.
No. It only records what staff report.
