Lindy vs Adapt

Lindy sells a ready AI assistant for every teammate. Adapt sells a platform for your company agent. Which one does your team need? And which one costs less per person?

Dmitry Dubovetzky

Which is better, Lindy or Adapt?

Lindy is better if every person should have an inbox, calendar, and meeting assistant today. Adapt is better if a technical team will build one governed company agent across your systems and code, or needs it inside your own infrastructure.

Pick Lindy for

  • Each person's inbox, calendar, and meetings
  • Working on day one without a build project
  • A HIPAA agreement for health data

Pick Adapt for

  • Tested pull requests in your product's code
  • Self-hosting, VPC, or on-premises deployment
  • The lowest seat price, with your own AI keys

Lindy is a ready AI assistant for each person's inbox, calendar, and meetings, plus a shared teammate in Slack. Adapt is a platform for building and running your company's own agent, with control over models, governance, and hosting.

Lindy is something every employee uses on day one: connect your email and calendar and start delegating. Adapt is something a technical team sets up for the company: choose the model path, connect the business systems, set the approvals and budgets, and decide where it runs. Both have company memory, both run scheduled work, and both work in Slack, email, and iMessage.

This guide is for a growing company whose recruiters want help now while engineering eyes a company-wide agent. If Lindy already covers your recruiters' inboxes and nobody needs a governed agent yet, there's no reason to build one. Every Lindy and Adapt fact here was checked against their own pages on October 20, 2026.

What is Lindy best at?

Lindy is best at personal communication work that every employee has, such as inbox triage, scheduling, meeting notes, and follow-ups, without any build.

A Slack admin installs it and each person links Google or Microsoft and a phone number. Routines start when a meeting ends, an email arrives, or a calendar event approaches. Personal skills apply to one person's requests and team skills to everyone's.

What is Adapt best at?

Adapt is best at company-wide work across business systems, such as querying the warehouse, reconciling finance tools, and turning issues into tested pull requests, under governance your team defines.

It connects to Salesforce, HubSpot, BigQuery, Snowflake, PostgreSQL, Stripe, QuickBooks, Zendesk, Greenhouse, and GitHub. Its company brain gathers knowledge, skills, and memory from work and prunes what's no longer useful. Governance covers scopes, approvals on named actions, budgets, traces, and audit records.

Which one handles your product's code, Lindy or Adapt?

Adapt. Engineering issues come back from it as tested pull requests that a person reviews. Lindy builds internal tools and HTML pages, which is useful software but not work on your product's repository.

Adapt's own engineers code through it from Slack, and moved from shared to personal commit identities so each change is attributed to the person who asked. Slack is my IDE. The bigger jobs Lindy shows are internal tools built with company data.

Winner: Adapt. Lindy doesn't open pull requests in an existing codebase.

Which one helps each person with their own inbox, Lindy or Adapt?

Lindy. Each person links their own Google or Microsoft account, and Lindy triages their mail, books meetings, takes notes, and drafts the follow-ups. Adapt reaches email and calendars only through the connections an admin sets up for the company agent.

Lindy keeps a private scope for each person beside the shared one, so a recruiter's inbox help doesn't show up in the team channel.

Adapt is built around one agent acting for the company with a configured identity, which suits shared systems more than a single person's day.

Winner: Lindy. Personal assistance is what it was built for.

How do Lindy and Adapt control what the agent can touch?

Lindy separates personal and shared scope and asks before the actions you mark. Adapt adds groups, roles, budgets, traces, and audit records, set by whoever owns the agent.

Lindy's guardrails cover which actions in shared Slack threads run alone and which wait for approval.

Adapt lets an admin cap spending, scope each connection, require approval on named actions, and trace every run.

Winner: Adapt, for a company that wants spending caps and a trace of every run.

Is Lindy or Adapt more secure?

As of October 2026, both Lindy and managed Adapt hold SOC 2 Type II. Lindy adds a HIPAA agreement, SSO, and SCIM on Enterprise. Adapt includes a standard DPA, and its Enterprise plan adds SSO, SCIM, SIEM audit export, and VPC or on-premises deployment.

Lindy encrypts data in transit and at rest and doesn't train models on customer data. Adapt doesn't train on your data either, and its open-source runtime lets a security team keep the whole agent on its own servers.

Winner: Lindy for a vendor review that asks for HIPAA. Adapt when the agent has to run inside your own network.

Which is faster to set up, Lindy or Adapt?

Lindy is faster. A Slack admin on a paid Slack plan installs it, and each colleague accepts an invite and links email, calendar, and phone in a few minutes. Adapt asks someone to pick models, connections, an acting identity, approval rules, and budgets for the company.

Adapt's connections take no engineering, and templates cover jobs like ad-spend checks and issue-to-pull-request work. Beyond that, the choices are yours to make and keep current. Adapt also offers a free design session with one of its engineers.

Winner: Lindy. Nobody has to design anything before the first request.

What do Lindy and Adapt cost?

As of October 2026, Lindy costs $49.99 per active user per month with 5,000 pooled credits each, models included. Managed Adapt costs $8 per user per month, plus metered compute, memory, and model usage, and its open-source runtime is free to host yourself.

For a ten-person recruiting and operations team, here's the month before any extra usage:

Lindy Team

$499.90 per month for ten users

  • 10 × $49.99, each seat adding 5,000 credits
  • 50,000 pooled credits that cover the models
  • Top-ups at $10 per 1,000 once the pool is empty

Adapt Managed

$80 per month for ten users + usage

  • 10 × $8 seats
  • Compute at $0.045 per vCPU-hour while it runs
  • Models on your own keys, or the gateway at 5.5% extra

Lindy's bill grows with every person who mentions it in Slack. Adapt's grows with how long its runs take, how much it remembers, and which models it calls.

Winner: Adapt on the seat price, as long as the metered usage stays below the $419.90 gap.

How do Lindy and Adapt handle the same hiring pipeline?

Ask Lindy and Adapt to summarize the pipeline and draft a follow-up for roles with interviews but no offer. There are 12 interviews and two offers, and Engineer is the only role that needs the nudge.

Designer had four interviews and one offer, Engineer six and none, Analyst two and one. Lindy works from the recruiter's linked inbox and calendar. Adapt reads the applicant tracking system through a connection someone configured. The right fit is whichever one already has the data where your recruiters keep it.

What do Lindy and Adapt users say in reviews?

As of October 2026, Lindy rates 4.9 out of 5 on G2 from about 170 reviews and 1.7 out of 5 on Trustpilot from 40. We found no G2 or Trustpilot listing for Adapt.

Lindy's G2 reviewers praise how fast a person gets it doing real inbox work. On Trustpilot, the complaints center on credits running out sooner than expected, charges after cancelling, and support that's slow to answer.

What carries over between Lindy and Adapt?

Lindy's team memory files and Adapt's agent instructions carry over as text. Personal Lindy files stay with their owners, and connections are set up again.

  • Each person wants help with email and meetings
  • You want it working without a project
  • Usage is included in the seat price
  • Your vendor review asks for HIPAA

Choose Adapt if…

  • The work spans warehouses, finance, and code
  • You want your own model keys or routing
  • You need VPC deployment or detailed audit trails

Is there a Lindy or Adapt alternative that's ready and also works on your product?
